First International Virtual Symposium on Neurosciences and Wellbeing «Building the Neuroscience of Wellbeing during and after the pandemic».
On October 28th, 2020, the First International Virtual Symposium on Neurosciences and Wellbeing of the INECO Foundation will be held from Buenos Aires, Argentina. On this occasion, the theme will be «Building the Neuroscience of Wellbeing during and after the pandemic».
In these challenging and unprecedented times, wellbeing has come to occupy a central place in the health sector. There are numerous perspectives on the concept of wellbeing, from philosophy and economics to psychology and biology. Currently we know that the state of wellbeing affects our brain, causing positive changes, becoming an integral and essential component of health. For this reason, it has become one of the objects of study in neuroscience.
The current and future challenge in relation to wellbeing is even greater in Latin America given the level of vulnerability that exists in our population during and after the pandemic. The development of the neuroscience of wellbeing can contribute to the restructuring of public policies in various fields such as health, the economy, citizen behaviour, social and techno-cultural transformations, care for the environment and other factors.
The application of scientific knowledge to understand how the wellbeing of people is constructed is one of the great promises of the last decade, backed by multiple experiences in many countries. Neuroscience, together with other disciplines, offers great potential to try to understand the neurological bases of wellbeing and provide some of the keys to their personal and social construction in different areas and moments of life.
The symposium will focus on the role of neuroscience in the construction and development of wellbeing through dialogue, collaboration and interdisciplinary exchange. For this, it will have a panel of leading international and national specialists and researchers from various areas such as biologists, economists, sociologists, doctors, psychologists, anthropologists, musicologists, neuroscientists, and experts in human resources and technologies, among many others. This will allow a deeper understanding of the different dimensions of wellbeing, in order to increase knowledge and attention to this transcendental aspect of health; in addition to contributing to improvements in the quality of life of the population and placing the concept of wellbeing in the public agenda of developing countries.

About the INECO Foundation International Neuroscience Symposium
The symposium has been carried out, since 2007, with the main objective of discussing the latest advances in brain research and addressing the key areas of basic and clinical neuroscience. Due to its long history, the symposium is established as one of the most important neuroscience events in the region.
About INECO Foundation
Created in 2008, the INECO Foundation supports research programs aimed at understanding the neurobiological bases of the most complex brain processes and promotes academic projects aimed at improving the prevention, detection and treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders.
Its fundamental pillars are interdisciplinary work; the relevance of research projects for society; the international impact of their investigations; and the generation of awareness about neuroscience topics in the community.
